(Thanks to Sara for below report)
In general the conditions were pretty challenging. Lashing rain, low temperatures, a hill right at the start of the cycle, a strong head wind on the return cycle leg and a muddy canal path for the run with ankle-deep puddles. Lovely! If you can do a triathlon in this weather, every one afterwards will be a breeze.  To provide some perspective, competitors were in the hot showers afterwards for 30-40 minutes and still shivering!
We had some podium places – Keana, Andrew and Calum, and some other good results with improved performances from Sophie Nisbet, Alex Johnston, Forbes, Jonny, Lewis and Ben Davidson, some of whom were moving up the rankings and finding themselves with higher placings than in previous events. However some of the swim lanes seemed frustrating – with lots of faffing/overtaking in a few tristar 3 lanes, as clearly other competitors had got their swim times wrong! Watching the youths was especially exciting with seven of them exiting the pool around the same time and a very close cycle race.
The transition times looked especially good in the results tables, and E#3 had some of the fastest T1 times – which just goes to show how important it is to continually practise/train for transitions. One poor youth competitor from another club did the entire cycle with no shoes after messing up in T1.
Ben was competing in his first tri with very little training so did especially well considering the revolting conditions
