A welcoming club on the North West of Edinburgh

St Neots Triathlon

Having entered into a triathlon near Cambridge I decided to go down day early to allow some recovery time from the journey.

Once I did my normal day before race routine of a quick bike and run I then had a whole day to amuse myself!  Being away from home with no children around and no coaching to do it made we wonder how people manage to spend a day sitting in a coffee shop doing nothing!

The weather on race day looked good though the river was looking very narrow for the swim.    This was to become a problem for the whole outward leg as I got boxed in and just couldn’t go anywhere.

I was glad to exit the water and get going on the bike.  The bike was a 25km route which gradually climbed for the first 12km then was downhill the whole way back.  I passed more people then got by me and felt I was moving back up the field.

The run was just under 5km and went between narrow paths and grass through a park.  I kept going, foe me the run is still a matter of hanging on for as long as I can.

I finished in 1hr16min and the swim of 14mins cost me a lot of places.
