The visit to Club la Santa in Lanzarote has been a regular in the E#3 spring calendar for several years now. This year 13 of us headed out for a week of warm weather training. There is a packed schedule to give the week some structure but it’s very much an individual choice on what you choose to do.
Club la Santa and Lanzarote is a bit of a triathlon mecca with famous events and a string of recognised athletes and triathletes using at various points throughout the year, so getting some sun on our backs and a serious block of pre-season training with friends is a real treat.
There are three 50m pools and we have lanes booked for an hour each day with a suggested set, again optional, with some choosing to go to the sea lagoon to do some open water swimming or booking one of the many classes instead.
There is no typical day, but we do a triathlon and a duathlon or long run day which along with a couple of longer rides are the “big days out”, these were done by about half the group, the remainder book classes each day including aquafit, dance, cross fit, swim coaching, yoga, spin, aerial, aerobics, ultimate abs, weights and stretch & relax.
The most important part of the day is of course, the social side, every night we meet up for drinks (and to eat Will’s Pringles) and dinner. There is even a fiercely competitive table tennis comp and also less competitive games of pool and padel tennis throughout the week.
The week is very much a “do your own thing” but with a structure to give a good base to kick start your training or prepare for events.
You’ll see from the pictures much fun is had, coupled with some serious hard work. Next years trip is already being planned, watch out for next year’s dates as these will be shared shortly on the usual socials, if you are interested don’t be afraid to ask for more information.
